    How to increase your WORD POWER 



    The quickest, most useful, a most useful and easiest way to increase your word power is to analyze and understand how words are put together.


    For example, most people used the word salary and it’s plural from salaries. They also recognize the word salaried meaning :paying a salary
    Example.  He has a salaried job at the orphanage.
    Now here is a something interesting. The word salary is based on the Latin root “SAL”, meaning (SALT)
    (Roman solider were given a special allowance to buy their own salt)
    Now you understand why the expression “He’s not worth his salt” means “He’s not worth his pay”.
    Let’s have some fun with this root SAL.
    What do we put salt on? SALads.
    What is highly salted, spiced meat? SALami.
    What do chemists call water, soil, or a solution containg salt? They call it SALine.
    So if you learn one basic word or one basic root, you can instantly increase your sight vocabulary.
    English has hundreds of thousands of words built up from two or more distinct parts taken mostly from Latin or Greek.
    It would be impossible to learn and remember them all individually but the parts or building blocks are limited in number and simple in meaning. With them you can analyze, understand, and use thousands of words almost on sight.
